He was a farmer, a lover of the land.
He never spoke to us of hope
but it is he who lived inside hope,
not as a vague distant dream
but firmly footed in the actions of each day.
He taught us to show up,
do the right thing and trust
the dawn will come.
He taught us that hope must
begin, must germinate in the dark
to grow towards the light.
Plant your tiny seeds
in the cold dark soil, into uncertainty.
Water with tears of pain or joy,
wait and watch.
Know the sun will return and life will be nourished.
To believe in hope is to believe in life.
He taught us to plant seeds.
Plant seeds of hope.
