Tip A Wee Dram | March 9, 2019

March 9th was the 10th anniversary of this amazing whisky-tasting fundraiser for Callanish. The event was yet another fun-filled and tasty evening at the Scottish Cultural Centre, with silent auction, whisky tastings and more. We are filled with so much gratitude for Al Jones and his wonderful team of over 30 volunteers. They have grown this annual festivity into a much anticipated event for many.

Many thanks to all who helped and attended!

Tour de Victoria | August 18th, 2018

Cycling Team Callanish was founded in 2013, inspired by two young adults, both with Stage IV cancer, Rima Andre and Philip Lee. Our cycling achievements have changed all of our lives and become a fantastic fundraiser for the organization. On August 18th, 2018, Team Callanish rode again, this time 100 kms in the Tour de Victoria. The team was comprised of past retreat participants and family members, Callanish staff and board members.

Thanks to all who donated and supported our ride! It was a great success. We raised close to $14,000!

Road Less Taken

Debut Album Release, Concert and Fundraiser

Nine years ago, we encouraged Danielle Schroeder to bring her guitar to Callanish and share her music. Her songs touched all our hearts and now feel part of our community. On June 5th, she launched her first album in true Callanish style.

Over 140 Callanish community members and friends came together to watch Danielle perform at the PAL Theatre, with Kevin Foster and musician friends Daphne Lobb, Laurel Murphy, Eric Posen, Dan Reynolds, and more. This debut album release, concert and fundraiser was a beautiful celebration of her work and of the spirit of Callanish expressed in so many of her songs.

Thanks to all who attended!
All proceeds to benefit Callanish Society.

THANK YOU! Bowen Island Gives (BIG!)

In late June, Bowen Island Gives (BIG!) organized a hike up Mount Gardner and an after-party—to benefit Callanish in memory of Liz Evans. The event raised $5400, surpassing its original goal of $5000 with about 50 hikers and over 100 at the after-party. Thanks to everyone who participated. And thanks to all the fabulous volunteers at BIG! whose passion and effort made it possible. We are so grateful!
