May I have the courage today
to live, to live this life
with the bittersweet, the despair, the ecstasy,
to live it all.
May I have the courage today
to drink from the well
and not but fall into a gaze
at the water’s edge
as if mesmerized by the reflections
while watching life pass
as ripples in time that widen and disperse
only to dissolve away.
No, may I have the courage today
to drink from the well,
to drink deeply, to taste the water
and know it is life
and I have lived.
