What are some of
the benefits to participants?

Any person who has had a diagnosis of cancer. The person may be undergoing
treatment for cancer, may be in remission, may be living with recurrence,
or may be at the end stages of life. The person must be able to take care
of their own daily needs, medications, treatments, etc during the retreat.
Each person may bring one support person who will register as a full participant
of the program. Each participant wishes to explore what "healing" means
to them, individually and within a group setting, and is willing to experience
a variety of complementary healing modalities, as well as participate in
self-reflection and group process. The process has been described as "gentle
and yet intense".

A maximum of eight to ten people are accepted for each retreat.

They are six nights, arriving in the afternoon of the first day, and ending
the morning of the last day.

Four time per year, click here for
upcoming retreat dates.

We have 2 retreat sites:
 | One is a beautiful mountain lodge on a creek situated on 12 acres
between Squamish and Whistler. |
 | One is in a retreat centre on Cates Hill, on Bowen Island. It is also on
several acres and overlooks the ocean. |
Both retreat centres are in nature, are private and comfortable. Most
participants will have their own bedrooms and showers.

An application form must be completed. Please contact our office if you would
like application forms; this gives us an opportunity to discuss dates and
details before you fill out the lengthy application forms. We are able to fax,
e-mail or send them by regular post. All applications are reviewed and then participants are contacted
by phone to clarify any information. In discussion with the participant,
a decision is then made about participation.

$795 plus GST, per person.

Partial bursaries are available for those people who cannot cover the entire
cost of the retreat.

We began running retreats in November 1995, based on the
Commonweal
Cancer Retreat Program offered in Bolinas California.
